A quick card for Shernocky crafts..

Morning everyone..

Its a busy time here with us in the rural Donegal, Ireland.. My kids are already finishing their first week of the summer holiday, and so far we are all still sane.. Well as sane as sane can be in this house anyway.. But with the summer holiday comes the challenge of keeping the kids entertained..
When the weather is good, well then its no problem.. Outside we go.. But on rainy days, and we do live in Ireland so we get plenty of those, the challenge really sets in..

So far so good.. We have managed.. the board games and the toys are still "new" but it wont be long till they will come to mummy here and look for new exciting things..
Im lucky really, I have 3 kids that all love being crafty. They know nothing better then to sit at my table and craft with me. But even so, and the point of my rambling, time for ME to craft, has been severely restricted..

Those of you that may stop by my blog from time to time, knows that I dont do diffecult. I tend to stay with cards that are simply and quick to make. Why?? Well, being a "single" mum (hubby works abroad) to 3 kids, one a toddler, dont leave much time to myself, but generally, I think I love the instant gratification. Knowing that I made something I can show off and be proud off..

And that leads me to the card I have made for Shernocky Crafts.

This card is not spectacular nor magnificent. It is me having a play, doing what I do best. Just letting my creativity flow.

For June, we, the DT got the following goodies to work with:

1 x Paperartsy Hot Picks A5 stamp set
1 x Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint
1 x Polyview photo display book
10 small brown money envelopes
  A length of Jute ribbon

If you wish to see my first June project, click HERE..
And my second June project, click HERE...

As I have already used the little photo album & had a play with the money envelopes, I decided to once again do what I do best.. Quick & easy..

And this is what I came up with...

I started by cutting a square of white card stock, a bit smaller then my base card.
I then used my stampset to cover the white card stock with different stams from the set, using brown memento ink. A coating of distress ink around the edges, gave me the vintage look I was after..

I cut a piece of the Jute ribbon and stuck on to the Card.
I then proceded taking my paint and randomly paint on to the card. (This is all done BEFORE attaching the white piece, now stamped piece, of card to the card base.

This paint is like liquid chalk. I love it. It dries really fast and just before it dries totally, you can rub it around just like chalk. It gives a lovely distressed/vintage effect.
Once my painting was done, I stamped my greeting, smothered in distress ink, and added to the card.

I finised with a few wooden cogs that I had lying in my stach.
All that was left to do, was to attach my card onto the craft card base card, and Voila..

I love how this card came out, and I will deffinatly be playing with this paint again soon. I just love it... And to me, It just show that even quick & Easy cards, can end up looking really good..

Altered Money bags fro Shernocky Crafts..

Good morning everyone..

First of all, I want to say a HUGE welcome to my new followers. Over the last few week several new people has joined me on my little piece of the www.
Im delighted you are all here, and hope you will continue to find inspiration when you visit.

My post for today is for

Each month, we, the DT, get a bag of goodies to play with.
June goodies consists off:
1 x Paperartsy Hot Picks A5 stamp set
1 x Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint
1 x Polyview photo display book
10 small brown money envelopes
  A length of Jute ribbon

If you wish to see my first June project click HERE..

As I used the photo album on my first post, I was left with the little money bags.
And by god... Im struggeling on this one..

Anyone who knows me, know that Im am NOT an altere.. I never have managed to get the hang of altering. And these little bags.. Not a clue what to do with them..

I ended up having to ask the rest of the DT for help. They all had loads of great idea and I cant wait to see what they have made, but one idea stood out. One of the girls suggested to make some little tag pockets.. My brain said "Use the as they are".. Dont know if that makes sense, but it did to me..

So i have taken the little envelopes and used them just as they are... As envelopes..

In my kids school (and proberbly in every school) we are quite often asked for money for one thing or another. I already have little brown envelopes I write on when I send money in to the school, so I decided to go down that road. Only to add my crafty flair.

This is the finished result:

I first coated all 3 envelopes with different amounts of my paint (see list above). This paint dries so quick, that by the time I came back from washing my brush, the envelopes were dry.
All I did was use the stampset to stamp strait onto the envelopes. I used black memento ink.
The letters are all outline stickers that I coloured black with my promarkers.

That is it!! It was soooo simple..

I showed my finished project to the kids when they landed home from school yesterday, and both just LOVED them. They knew strait away what it was I had made and have now requested that I make some more, for when the new school year starts.

Now what to make for my last project lol.. Still have a few of the envelopes left and desperate need an idea of what to make with them..

But that is it for today.. I do hope you like what I've made.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments left behind.

Tutorial for Shernocky Crafts.

Good morning ya all..

My DT post today for

Each month, we, the DT, get a bag of goodies to play with.
June goodies consists off:

1 x Paperartsy Hot Picks A5 stamp set
1 x Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint
1 x Polyview photo display book
10 small brown money envelopes
  A length of Jute ribbon

A fantastic goody bag, but also a challenge, as I mainly make cards & scrappages..
But never the less a fantastic challenge.

I recieved my goodybag only yesterday, late morning, and by 3 pm I had my project done. I knew strait away what I wanted to play with first. The Displaybook...

A small and cute little photo album.

I sanded the front cover to create a bit of grip on the surface. I just used a cheep nail file.

 This is what I used.
My stamp set from PaperArtsy - A Fantastic set, just LOVE IT...
Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint in Ice blue.. Amazing paint, never seen it before. It dries really quick and really is as it says, chalky..
And for stamping on the cover, I used my StazOn in black.

I cut my stampset into individual stamps, and simply stamped strait onto my cover. (These stamps comes unmounted, so once cut apart, I simply used my gluestick to attach the stamp to my acrylic block. Just make sure to remove and clean strait after use)
Watch your stamp dont slide when you press. As the cover is a smooth surface, it does take a steady hand as not to mess it up.

After my stamping was dry, I covered the cover with my paint. I went for very light strokes and slowly built up the colour. I added more to the spine of the album, to cover the name on the spine of the album.
(I accidently got too much paint on to the middle of the cover, but I used a baby wipe to gently wipe of again, then simply took my brush and went over the cover again)

Once I was happy with my paint, I left my book to dry. After it was fully dry, I did cover the book in a layer of varnish.  Im hoping that the varnish will make the book a bit more durable.

I covered my chipboard letters in my paint. If you dont have any chipboard, simply cut them from card stock and add them using foampads.
TUT is my Sister's knick name and as her birthday is coming up soon, I decided to make my little book for her.

Ok I must be honest.. I screwed up with these pics..
My idea was to stamp my letters, then lightly cover them in paint. Just like my cover. Only it didnt look right, so I ended covering the letters fully in paint and then stamp.. Meaning the picture are not quite right..

Ok imagine that the letters in now fully painted lol.. like above.. THEN stamp. I used the swirl stamp in my set, and again stamped with StazOn. Once again to make it all abit more durable, once paint was dry, I added a coat of varnish and left to dry.

Ok so while my lettters was drying, I could continue with my now dry book.
I took a strip of black lace from my stach and added down the spine of my book. Then added a length of ribbon, left over from last months goodies, over it.

Lastly I added my letters and Voila, my little photo album is finished.
Here is a few more pic of the finished result.

And that is it from me for today. I hope you like my book.

Shernocky DT project..

Hi guys..

Its time for my next post for

Once a month, we the DT, get a bag of goodies to make  projects with. The goodies are all product which can be bought in the Shernocky Store.

For more details pop over to the Shernocky Crafts BLOG..

Here is what I have made for this week:

This is in fact a cork coaster. Ive never done much altered art, and admit I was at loss as to what to make with it. Well that was until my 7 year old son Michael came to my table.. "You should make it into a clock" he said... And the Idea was born..

I didnt have any clock kits, so I made it up as I went along.
The "clock hands" are arrows, but it was all I had that could be used. And I chose to make it into a hanging decoration so it would be useful as well.

In our goodie bag, there was the most beautiful Brads. I used most of them on this project.
I took the pins off and attached the Brads with a drop of pinflair instead.

For this month we were asked to make 2 projects. Ofcourse I still had materials left over after making both of mine, so I decided to use the last bits to make a card.
Its a simple card, mainly made from the bits cut out from one of my sheets of papers.
All I added myself was the greeting.

And of course, I just HAD to use the last few of the Brads in my kit..

If you fancy seeing my first project, made with the same materials, PRESS HERE..

And that is it from me today.

I will be posting once a week, using amazing products all availble in the shop.

To ease ourselfs in to this brand new DT, each DT member was given a bag of goodies and asked to make 2 projects. Being a total teachers pet, I made 3 lol.. ok ok I simply had goodies left over and didnt want to put them away lol..

Here is my first project.

My first ever altered brown bag.

For this project I used papers from Graphic45, birdsong collection.

All I added to the papers was a bit of lace, a bow and finised the bags with my first ever go of Liquid pearls.

And that is it from me today.
I hope you like my bag. I will be back next monday with my remaining 2 project made with papers from the same collection.
